Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 8, 2026

1. Introduction & Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Slydap (“Slydap,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website, mobile experience, and related services (the “Service”). It applies to everyone who visits or uses the Service, whether or not you have registered an account.

This Policy is incorporated into, and should be read together with, our Terms of Use. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information you provide

  • Account information: first and last name, email address, password, date of birth, gender, and country/region, provided when you sign up.
  • Profile information: profile photo, cover photo, bio, occupation, education, relationship status, and any other details you choose to add to your profile.
  • Content: posts, comments, reactions, messages, photos, videos, and other material you create, upload, or send through the Service.
  • Payment-related information: if you send or receive a Gift, transaction details processed by our payment providers (we do not store your full card or mobile money credentials ourselves); if you ask for a payout, the mobile money number, network and account name you give us to send it to.
  • Communications: information you provide when you contact us for support or otherwise correspond with us.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Usage data: pages and features you use, actions you take (such as likes, follows, and searches), and the time, frequency, and duration of your activity.
  • Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers, and referring URLs.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: as described in Section 4.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service, including your feed, notifications, messaging, Groups, Pages, and Watch content;
  • Personalize your experience, including the content and connections we suggest to you;
  • Process transactions, including Gifts and payouts, and send related confirmations;
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests;
  • Maintain the safety, security, and integrity of the Service, including detecting fraud, spam, and abuse;
  • Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use;
  • Analyze and improve the Service.

4. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as light/dark theme), and understand how the Service is used. For example, we use a session cookie to maintain your login, an optional “remember me” cookie so you don’t have to sign in every visit, and a preference cookie to remember your chosen theme. We also keep a random identifier for your browser in a cookie, and the app keeps one for your phone, so we can tell when a banned account comes back on the same device; we store it only in a scrambled (hashed) form.

Most browsers let you refuse or delete cookies through their settings. If you disable cookies, some parts of the Service, including staying signed in, may not work correctly.

5. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We share information only in the following circumstances:

  • With other users, as intended by the Service: your profile, posts, and other content are shared according to the audience/privacy setting you choose for each item.
  • Service providers: we share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, email delivery, and payment processing, under obligations to protect it and use it only to provide those services.
  • Legal reasons: we may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal process, protect the rights, property, or safety of Slydap, our users, or the public, or investigate fraud or security issues.
  • Business transfers: if Slydap is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction; we will notify you of any such change and any resulting change to this Policy.
  • With your consent: in any other case where you direct us to share information.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required or permitted to retain it longer — for example, to comply with a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, enforce our Terms of Use, or as required for tax and accounting purposes for payment records.

Content you shared with other users, or that others copied or re-shared before deletion, may continue to exist on the Service or elsewhere outside our control.

7. Your Rights & Choices

  • You can review and update most of your account and profile information at any time in your account settings.
  • You can download a copy of your information (your profile, posts, photos and videos, comments, messages, connections and payments) from Settings → Download your data on the website or in the app. If your account is banned, you can get the copy from your appeal page. You can delete your account in Settings too, or ask us to do either at [email protected].
  • You can control notification and communication preferences in your account settings.
  • Depending on the law that applies to you, you may have additional rights over your personal information; we will honor requests to the extent required by applicable law.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, anyone under 15 years of age, and our Terms of Use require members to be at least 15. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 15. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a user under 15, we will take steps to delete it and, where appropriate, disable the associated account. If you believe a child under 15 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected].

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for any activity on your account.

10. International Data Transfers

Depending on where our infrastructure and service providers are located, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in a country other than the one in which you reside, which may have different data protection laws. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred in this way.

11. Third-Party Links

The Service may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third parties, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policy of any third-party site you visit.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and, for material changes, provide additional notice where appropriate (such as an in-app notification). Your continued use of the Service after a revised Policy takes effect constitutes your acceptance of it.
