On Boxing Day, the Commission conducted similar raids in Tema Community 1 and Teshie Nungua where dozens of arrests were made and drugs were seized with the help of the NACOC K9 dogs.
Patrols were conducted at the various malls and beaches in the Capital.
Beyond the arrests and the yellow tape, NACOC emphasizes the human cost. NACOC believes the exhibits seized—ranging from ecstasy and methamphetamine to cannabis-laced alcohol—represent "thousands of lives saved from the brink of addiction" this December.
Whether on the beaches of the capital, public areas in the city or slums, NACOC remains committed to ensuring the holiday remains a time of joy rather than tragedy.
During the operations, which resulted in the arrest of 72 suspects, officers engaged with community members who had gathered to cheer the removal of drug peddlers from their streets. Officers conducted on-site public education, briefing residents on the dangers of drug abuse and the impact of narcotics on neighborhood safety. The Commission will continue these raids in the coming days and months to ensure a sustained environment of security for all Ghanaians.
